The pack contains a bunch of nasty G48 coolant. It is sticky and corrosive and later in the process you will be disconnecting 32 coolant connections and handing 16 modules with some residual coolant in them. You will be happy to minimize the quantity of this stuff that leaks out. You can rig up various contraptions to remove the coolant but the handiest way is to get a car side rapidmate off eBay and some sections of tubing from Home Depot.
This presses down on the pack side rapidmate and allows you to force coolant out at the beginning of the process and pump it back in at the end of the process. Notice the directional arrow indicating where to put air pressure to push the coolant out.
This rig is using an basic stick pump from Amazon to pump coolant in. The best way to get coolant out is to put one end in a bucket and apply some air to the other end. I just use an air chuck wrapped in a rag - you don't want too much pressure on the system so the air chuck held by hand 'sealed' with a shop rag does a good job of limiting the pressure.
If you do this with the cover off, you can zip tie the two connectors together but you also risk making a mess inside the pack.
